Labor Day Weekend

Jason and I have wanted a little garden for a long time, but have been gone every summer since we've been here. We'll be here all next summer, and found out you can actually grow some things in the next few months here....so...Jason built some raised garden beds, with Kate's help, of course!

Got his workout for the day by hauling a bunch of heavy bags all the way around the house

Filled the planters

And planted Carrots, Radishes, Spinach, and two kinds of Lettuce!

Dr. Kate

Where The Wind Comes Sweepin' Down The Plains

After Kate saw/became obsessed with an episode of Curious George flying a kite, we bought her a kite for her Birthday and took it on it's maiden voyage a few weeks ago. I've never seen her have so much fun. She got the hang of it really quickly and was sure to do it all by herself. "I DO IT!!!" "KATE'S TURN!!!" We had to bribe her with candy to get her to leave!

To The Zoo!

It has been a while since we've been to the zoo! We took Blake on his first trip there a few weeks ago! I can't say he got much out of it, but Kate sure loved it! We got really lucky and had some close encounters with quite a few of the animals.

Mr. Turtle eating his lunch

We also saw a Mr. and Mrs. Turtle, but we'll spare you that picture! :)

The Lions were absolutely awesome!

The Brown Bear...he was so cute, he was scratching his backside on a corner of the glass!

An escapee...albino peacock munchin' on everyone's lunch

I'm usually the one behind the camera, so I thought I'd try to get a picture with my kids so they know that I had fun with them too, but Kate was super scared of this gorilla!

I guess being carried around all day can really take it out of you!

We couldn't leave without finding our zoobrick!

Blake's First Taste

Blake had his first taste of rice cereal on August 21st. Not really his first solid food experience, since he had been using his little mesh food thing with pears and mooched off of my dinner rolls a few times....

He decided to help himself at the end.

Turning Two in Texas

Kate turned two on August 6th! We were lucky enough to be able to spend her birthday with family again this year! My older brother and his family just moved to Texas, about 6 hours away from us, and my parents were there helping them move in, so we got to see all of them! (We actually celebrated Kate's birthday two days in a row, but for the sake of the blog, we'll squish it all into one day).

Kate's day started out with a "Nannerpus" breakfast. She has loved that video on youtube ever since she saw it on Aunt Becca's blog! She was so excited when we brought it out to her, her jaw literally dropped!

Her day continued with some fun in the backyard with cousins playing in the mud. Once I realized what was happening, I figured she was already a mess, no use in stopping her while she was having so much fun!

Our little ragamuffins Kate and Nicole:

After a good scrub down and an afternoon nap the festivities continued. Kate loves Dumbo "DEBO!" So I made her a Dumbo cake:

Blowing out the candles:

We opened up her presents:

She has not stopped playing with the tea set and play food set from Grandma and Grandpa Brown since we got home!

The cake was devoured:

The girls got their grove on with Strawberry Shortcake's "Strawberry Shake" (I don't know how we ended up with no pictures of that) while Blake hung out with Grandma:

The party crew:

We finished off the day with a trip to a water park. Kate loves swimming so it was a perfect ending to a perfect day!
