Dying The Eggs

We unfortunately had to miss our city's annual Easter Egg Hunt this year. Kate was pretty heartbroken, but Jason and I thought it was best to keep our two kids (one of which was throwing up, the other had croup) home away from other kids! I had decided that we could go to another egg hunt later in the week, since there are so many going on around town, but Kate has been sick ALL week, so we'll have to settle for a private hunt in our backyard.

In order to mend Kate's broken little heart, we decided to dye our eggs this last weekend. The kids had a blast. I was surprised at how little dye ended up on their hands and shirts!

Blake was really cute, trying hard to be soft with the eggs, but inevitably ended up dropping them pretty hard into the cups, causing quite a few cracked eggs!

Kate was pretty disgusted once we cracked an egg open and she caught a whiff of it!

Fancy Nancy/Dino Party

Our library recently hosted a Fancy Nancy party for little girls and a Dinosaur party for little boys. Kate was super excited, she's been into Fancy Nancy since Grandma Brown sent her a Fancy Nancy book for Halloween!

The event started out with a tea party, including fruit juice in princess cups and bread cut into flower shapes topped with nutella or strawberry cream cheese. Kate went straight for the chocolate!

Next, they were read a Fancy Nancy story by a dance instructor from a local dance studio.

Then they learned a few moves themselves!

The party wrapped up with crafts (pipe cleaner rings, and tinsel head bands) and of course some dress up in FANCY clothes! Kate was in heaven!

The dino party was held in a room right next door...

They had pb and nutella sandwiches in the shapes of dinosaurs, and juice in a dino cup.

A dinosaur dig, and lots of other cute crafts and hands on items that Blake was somehow less than interested in, too young I guess.

In the end Blake made his way to all the pretty ladies, and enjoyed sitting right in the middle of all of them!

TWINS!

We found out we were expecting again at the end of January. We made our dr. appointment and were scheduled to go in on March 1st. Jason was supposed to be in school, but luckily, his patient canceled, so he was able to come with me.

We got into the doctors office and after a brief question/answer session, he began doing an ultrasound. He said 8 weeks may still be to early to hear a heartbeat with the doppler. The monitor was facing him, and I could see a somewhat concerned look on his face. He told me "Now I'm going to turn this around, I don't want you to be alarmed..." immediately my heart sank and horrible thoughts entered my mind...what is wrong, is there no heartbeat, no baby, WHAT???? Then he said..."I see two!" My response, I think was "two...BABIES?!?!?!" After questioning him a few times with "are you SURE?" Jason and I just looked at each other in disbelief and laughed!

The rest of the day was a haze, we were in complete shock! We had very little sleep that night and we've been on an emotional roller coaster ever since! We have been doing tons of research and getting really excited about everything. I would say, we are mostly excited with some nervousness thrown in here and there. I thought going from 2 to 3 was going to be rough, we were going to be outnumbered, but 2 to 4 just sounds insane to me! I try to remind myself that the Lord never gives us more than we can handle, so I must trust that I'll be able to handle this!

I am praying for many things these days, patience being number one! Other things that make the list...that I can carry these babies for at least 37 weeks, that I can avoid bed rest so I can continue to take care of Kate and Blake, that the babies are healthy when they are born, that I get to take them home with me from the hospital when I am discharged...I can't imagine the heart ache I would have if I had to leave one or both of them! I am also praying that they are GOOD babies, happy and content and good sleepers! Is that too much to ask?

We truly are very excited and feel so blessed and humbled to be able to welcome two sweet new spirits into our home at the same time. We just can't wait to meet them both!

Snowed In!

We got hit by a major winter storm a few days ago! We got 12" of snow total, but with the wild 40-50 mph winds that were blowing, we got HUGE snow drifts. The news says they are 2'-5' deep, here is ours in the backyard at 26"!

We couldn't even budge this door, I had to open a window to get the measurements!

The drift in the front yard, up to Jason's KNEES! My car is going to be stuck in the garage for a while. The temperatures don't get above freezing for a few more days, even then its only 38 degrees, then back down to highs in the low 20's!

Since it was so cold outside, 13 degrees today, and we couldn't get out the door anyway, Jason climbed out a window and collected some snow. He brought it into our covered patio so the kids could play and stay "warm"!

Go Thunder!

A few months ago, at school, Jason won 2 tickets to go see the OKC Thunder! He decided to take Kate on a Daddy Daughter date. There are seriously no words to express how excited Kate was! She was ready to go the second she woke up that day and had to wait until 6:30 to go! It was torture (for me and her)! Finally the moment came!

She chose popcorn and soda as her treat, and had about 2 bites, but guzzled the whole soda!

After being there for about a half hour, she decided she had had enough, it was "too loud". Daddy convinced her to stay until half time. Jason found out the next day that the game went into double over time! Poor J! Oh well, despite the noise, Kate still had a great time!

Preschool

This year, a group of Mother's from our ward got together and started a preschool for our girls. All the girls are really close in age, and they have so much fun together! We each take a week and have all the girl over for songs, stories, learning letters/shapes/colors/numbers and practice handwriting. When preschool is at our house, story time is the girls FAVORITE time. I can't seem to figure out why...

Of course, Blake gets to join in on all the fun!
